In 2016, I made a sale that changed my life forever. At the time, I was working in a nutrition club selling products to help people lose weight.

The more I worked at the club, the more I felt like something was off. Like I was doing something wrong but I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was because I wasn’t actually doing anything wrong. It was just a feeling.

Then one day I made a sale that shook me to my core, sent tears streaming down my face, and revealed to me exactly what it was that I was feeling.

My job at the club was to sell the products. That’s how I earned a paycheck. Sell the products, get paid. Don’t sell the products, don’t get paid.

I was actually quite good at selling the products. Not because I knew all kinds of sales tactics or anything. But because I was extremely intentional about getting to know my customers by name and building a relationship with them. I believed that trust was the most important thing I could offer my customers.

Part of how I sold the products was to do 1-on-1 consults with customers. During these consults I would educate them on the products and then try to sell them an ongoing subscription.

So people would come into the club. I would build a relationship with them. I’d invite them to a consultation. Then sell them the products. That was the gist of the process and how I made money.

Until it happened... The sale that changed my life forever.

This lady had started coming into the club. I began building a relationship with her. Eventually, she agreed to do a 1-on-1 consultation with me. At the end of our consultation, I encouraged her to purchase the products to get the results she was desiring. I’ll never forget what happened next.
